On Memorial Day weekend in 1993, a memorial was erected in Meadowbrook Park with the names of all the men and women of Hamden who served in our armed forces throughout our history, in times of war and peace. In subsequent years, additional plaques were added on the edges of each of the three stone tablets to accommodate additional names, of those who recently served and those of times past. In 2019, with still more names to be added, an additional tablet was erected with another plaque. Two more plaques were added to this tablet in 2025. The memorial stands now to the brave service of more than 8000 Hamdenites.
