Name of Hogan Rd. on the 1856 map, being on the east side of Mount Carmel Center.
East Rock Connector – Interstate 91 Exit 6 in New Haven N and NW across Hamden line to Whitney Av. near Armory St.; proposed 1959.
This stub expressway would have continued straight from the hairpin turns of the I-91 Exit 6 ramps with Mill River running down its median. Never built due to environmental concerns for the river and East Rock Park.
East-West Connector – Worth Av. W and NW to Dixwell Av. opposite Evergreen Av.; Centerville; on 1970 plat.
This street was proposed to allow some traffic between Dixwell and Whitney to bypass the busy corner at Town Hall. The first part of it is now part of the route of the driveway between Worth Av. and the middle school.

Edgewood Avenue – End S of Farrell St. NE and N to Monroe St.; Centerville, Mt. Carmel; on 1896 plat.
It was at the edge of the woods in the Whitney Terrace subdivision. Most of the hundreds of lots in this subdivision were very small, just 20 by 100 feet. By the time there was interest in building houses here, there was a demand for larger houses requiring lots to be combined. The street was listed in city directories from 1933 to 1983 with some houses on it. Those houses still standing now have addresses on other streets. It was probably never paved but still exists as a paper street with lots on it for tax assessment purposes.

This street, likely named for someone in the area named Edward, went through where the CT Transit bus garage is now. It was renamed Potter St., likely to avoid confusion with the nearby Edmond St. and Edwards St. in Highwood, then abandoned.
Elmwood Place – Springdale St. (paper section) N and E to Cherry Hill Rd.; on 1924 plat.
Perhaps named for deep woods of elm trees in the area, this street in the Maple Lawn subdivision was never built. It remains as a paper street for tax assessment purposes.
Fairview Avenue – State St. W to Maple St.; East Side; in 1928 building code.

Fenwick is a borough in the town of Old Saybrook, Connecticut. The street appears as a dirt road on 1934 aerials. Obliterated by Wilbur Cross Pkwy., it no longer exists even as a paper street.
Forest Street – Lake St. NW to Manor St.; Whitneyville; on 1920 plat.
One of the woodsy street names in the Lakeview Manor subdivsion, it was renamed Fern St. to prevent confusion with Forest St. in Centerville/Mt. Carmel.
Forrest Street – Park Av. N to Hawthorne Av.; Spring Glen; on 1896 plat.
Original name of Weaton St., perhaps for someone with the name. Although spelled differently, it was too easily confused with Forest St. in Centerville/Mt. Carmel.
Founders Way - Deerfield Dr. opposite Exeter Rd. N to end; on 1999 plat.
Original name for Nicholas Ct. Families of some of the town founders - including Dickerman, Doolittle, Downs, Peck – had houses in the surrounding area on the 1868 map.
Freemont Street – Circular Av. E to Arcadia Av.; Hamden Plains; on 1924 plat.
Perhaps named for the explorer John C. Frémont, it was one block north of Fenwick St., and also obliterated by the parkway.
Friend Street – Johnson Rd. N to Peck Ln.; West Woods; on 1972 plat.
Paper street named for Friend Peck, brother of Andrew (Andrew St. nearby), who died in the Civil War.
Gabriele Street – Beacon St. N to Concord St.; Hamden Plains; on 1922 plat.
Named for developer Gabriele Dadio, this street would have connected Beacon and Concord a bit east of where Dante Pl. is now. Its route became one house lot on each of those streets.
Gale Place - Whitney Av. E to Washington Av.; Centerville; on 1917 plat.
Original name of Day Spring Av., before the Day Spring Lodge of the Masons was built.
George Street – Dixwell Av. W to Lakeview Av.; Hamden Plains; on 1910 plat.
Original name of Red Rock Ter. Renamed to prevent confusion with the George St. in Highwood.
Gilridge Street – Carmalt Rd. S to Gillies Rd.; Spring Glen; on 1940 plat.
This is the name on the tax assessor map for the portion of Carmalt Rd. connecting its main portion to Gillies Rd. It is not signed with the name and the one house on each side of it are numbered as if they fronted the main portion. Gilridge was the name of the subdivision, on the land of James Gillies up to Ridge Rd.
Goodyear Street – Dixwell Av. NW and N to Colony St.; Centerville; on 1921 plat.
Original name of Thompson St., renamed to prevent confusion with the bit of Goodrich St. extending from New Haven into Highwood. Over 70 people named Goodyear are buried in Hamden.
Gorham Drive – Benham St. S, W, N to Benham St.; Dunbar Hill; on 1947 plat -
Lena Gorham owned land in the area. See Brinsmade Rd. [Jim Maresca].
Gourd Street – Russo Dr. E to paper section of Joyce Rd.; West Woods; on 1959 plat.
Edward J. Gourd died in World War II. It became part of Deerfield Dr. in the 1970s.
Greenwood Street – Central Av. N to Hawthorne Av; Spring Glen; on 1896 plat.
Named for Evergreen Woods between it and Lake Whitney, it later became connected to Greenway St. and took on its name.
Grove Avenue – Manila Av. E to end; Hamden Plains; on 1900 plat.
Laid out in the Dixwell Avenue Park subdivision but never built, it remains as a paper street for tax assessment purposes. Perhaps there was a grove of trees nearby.
Hartridge Road – Hartford Tpk. W, N, W to Ridge Rd.; Spring Glen; on 1952 plat.
Never-built street that would have connected Hartford Tpk. and Ridge Rd. across the area where Congregation Mishkan Israel is now.
Henley Street – Marion Av. W to Melrose Av.; Mt. Carmel; on 1927 plat.
The western half of this never-built street still exists as a paper street.
Henry Street – Dixwell Av. W to Circular Av.; Hamden Plains; on 1904 plat.
